mediumpie arc link labels
os: macOSdpr: 1browser: Chromium 151.0.7922.34viewport: 1280x720
Repro steps
- 1.Navigate to the Nivo Pie chart documentation/playground page (/pie).
- 2.Render a Pie chart dataset containing multiple small adjacent slices (e.g., s1 through s10).
- 3.Observe the radial/arc link labels positioned along the perimeter of the small slices.
Expected
Arc link labels should use a collision avoidance or placement algorithm to distribute labels legibly or hide colliding labels.
Actual
Arc link labels render on top of each other at identical/near-identical positions, becoming completely illegible (triggering warning banner '✕ 10 label collision(s) — no placement algorithm').
Evidence
visualAt 0.0s, the control pie chart with 5 evenly spaced slices renders labels ('hack', 'scala', 'stylus', 'rust', 'java') without overlap.
visualAt 3.0s, dataset with many small slices renders, resulting in radial labels ('s1', 's2', 's3', etc.) overlapping into an unreadable clump at the top.
visualAt 11.0s, warning banner appears in header: '✕ 10 label collision(s) — no placement algorithm'.

### Summary When a Pie chart contains numerous small adjacent slices, radial/arc link labels overlap directly on top of each other, rendering the labels unreadable due to lack of collision avoidance. ### Repro Steps 1. Open `/pie` on Nivo documentation/playground (0.0s). 2. Load a dataset with several large slices and multiple tightly clustered small slices (3.0s). 3. Observe the labels at the top perimeter (3.0s–11.0s). ### Expected Arc link labels should adjust vertical/angular positions to avoid overlapping, or cull overlapping labels cleanly. ### Actual Labels overlap into a single illegible blob. At 11.0s, a banner confirms `✕ 10 label collision(s) — no placement algorithm`. *Recorded with SceneRecap.*
