Bug report— by SceneRecap AI
mediumtooltip / styledMode CSS
os: macOSdpr: 1browser: Chromium 151.0.7922.34viewport: 1280x720
Repro steps
- 1.Render a Highcharts chart (v13.1.1) configured with styledMode: true and tooltip.outside: true.
- 2.Hover over a chart slice (e.g., the 'Chrome' slice) to trigger the tooltip.
- 3.Observe document viewport scrollWidth and scrollHeight dimensions.
Expected
The outside tooltip should render detached from the chart without expanding the document layout or causing page scrollbars.
Actual
Hovering a slice renders an outside tooltip container sized to 100% viewport that overflows the page (+305px wide, +201px tall), causing scrollbars.
Evidence
consoleAfter hover: scrollWidth=1585 clientWidth=1280 scrollHeight=921 clientHeight=720 — BUG: page overflow detected
visualError badge displays at the bottom-left: '✗ Overflow: +305px wide, +201px tall — tooltip container = 100% viewport'
visualControl test running Highcharts v12.6.0 with the same configuration shows no overflow, confirming: '✓ No overflow — tooltip container stays contained'

### Summary In Highcharts v13.1.1, enabling `styledMode: true` together with `tooltip.outside: true` causes the detached tooltip container to trigger document-level overflow (+305px width, +201px height) when hovering over chart elements. ### Repro Steps 1. Initialize a chart with Highcharts v13.1.1 using `styledMode: true` and `tooltip.outside: true`. 2. Hover over any data point/slice (e.g. 'Chrome'). 3. Check document dimensions / page scrollbars. ### Expected Result The outside tooltip container should not cause layout overflow or document scrollbars. ### Actual Result The tooltip container causes `scrollWidth` (1585px) and `scrollHeight` (921px) to exceed viewport dimensions (1280x720), triggering visible overflow. ### Control Verification Highcharts v12.6.0 with the identical configuration does not overflow (`tooltip container stays contained`). *Recorded with SceneRecap.*
