Is this a Scribe or Tango alternative?
For step-by-step guides, yes — with two differences: SceneRecap records the full video (so the guide links back to the moment), and the same recording can become a bug report, an explanation or a recap. See the Scribe and Tango comparison pages for specifics.
Do I need to narrate?
No. Tutorial mode works from the screen and the interaction log. If you talk, the transcript is used as additional context.
Can I edit the guide?
Yes. Open the guide on its recording page and press Edit guide: rewrite, reorder, add or delete steps, edit the prerequisites and the end state. To change a step's screenshot, pause the video on the right moment and press Use current frame. The share link, exports and tracker issues all use your edited version, and you can restore the AI's version at any time.

Is Tutorial mode free?

Can I make a guide without recording anything?
Yes — the free step-by-step guide generator (/tools/step-by-step-guide-generator) turns rough written notes about a process into a numbered guide you can copy as Markdown, no account needed. Recording the process adds what text cannot: a screenshot per step and a timestamp back to the video.
Does it work on desktop apps?
The Chrome extension records browser tabs. For anything else, record with your usual tool and upload the MP4/WebM/MOV — the AI pipeline is the same, minus the click log.
