SceneRecap turns a screen recording into documentation: numbered steps, a screenshot per step, written instructions, and a timestamp back to the video for each — exported to PDF, DOCX, Markdown or Notion. No narration, no manual screenshots.
How it works
- 01
Record the process
Pick Tutorial mode and do the task in Chrome as you normally would — no voiceover needed.
- 02
The AI writes the steps
It segments the recording into steps from your clicks and navigations, picks the best frame for each, and writes the instruction.
- 03
Export anywhere
PDF, DOCX, Markdown, HTML, or a Notion page with native blocks. Or share the link and let people watch the step they need.
Numbered steps with screenshots
One clean frame per step, chosen from the recording; no manual cropping.
Written instructions
Short, action-first sentences — ‘Click Pay now’, ‘Open Settings → Billing’ — not a transcript.
Timestamps back to the video
Every step seeks the recording, so readers can watch the 10 seconds they are unsure about.
Exports that match your stack
PDF and DOCX for handbooks, Markdown/HTML for wikis, Notion pages for team docs.
Re-record only what changed
Re-analyze a recording in another mode, or record just the changed part and export again.
Privacy built in
Password and payment fields are masked at capture; you review before upload; EU hosting.
Frequently asked
Is this a Scribe or Tango alternative?
For step-by-step guides, yes — with two differences: SceneRecap records the full video (so the guide links back to the moment), and the same recording can become a bug report, an explanation or a recap. See the comparison page for specifics.
Do I need to narrate?
No. Tutorial mode works from the screen and the interaction log. If you talk, the transcript is used as additional context.
Can I edit the guide?
Yes — titles, steps and text are editable, and you can re-analyze. Exports reflect your edits.
Which export formats are supported?
Markdown and GIF highlight on Free; PDF, DOCX, HTML and Notion pages on Pro and Team.
Does it work on desktop apps?
The Chrome extension records browser tabs. For anything else, record with your usual tool and upload the MP4/WebM/MOV — the AI pipeline is the same, minus the click log.
